Set on Lock Island, overlooking Hamhaugh Island and theWeybridge bank of the Thames, our site spans the Shepperton weir pool. It has a picturesque, holiday feel about it, leaving the real world behind.
We are the only permanent slalom site in the S.E, and have gates movable from the bank and the water. There are calm areas for flat water practice, plus usually a gently flow from the side spills and in rainy times, between 1 and 10 sluice gates may be open creating challenging white water, as you can see in our gallery. With 5 to 8 gates open it is the best wave in the country!
The weir pool has direct access to the Thames, upstream towards Chertsey and downstream towards Sunbury - ideal for longer paddles and in particular our warm up/ training run (c.6min) around 'short' (D'Oily Cart) Island.
Our club house has a gym/meeting area, well equipped kitchen, toilets, store and male and female changing rooms with showers. There is a boat store and outside storage too.
Members meet regularly for training sessions and club night is Tuesday at 6.00.
We compete at all levels in the national ranking events and run our own events 3 times a year. Members enjoy all types of paddlesports in addition to slalom, including wild water racing and playboating. Visitors are very welcome to our sessions and events and some equipment is available for loan. So, come and enjoy!
